damsel in distress
to quote Blanche Devroe, I "have always relied on the kindness of strangers." (Tennessee Williams - Streetcar Name Desire) and today was no exception - as i was rounding box spring road turn to the radio station - i hit the slush and spinned out for control. thankfully there was no on coming traffic and i ended up on the other side of the road in the ditch... and immediately called AMA. unfortunately it would be more than an hour and a half before they could get to me, and i needed to be on the air at 6. even though the flames game was not at 6 tonight and dolly would have been home in plenty of time for face off... i didn't want to risk being even later, so while on the phone, a HUGE MXT 4x4 pulled up (after passing me once - how can you miss THAT huge blue monster) and they asked if i wanted help. They had to run back to the shop and get a chain, even asked if i wanted to ride back with them, but i passed as i was in heels and would have to step out into the deep ditch (i knew i should have worn boots to work that day). so after calling dolly to tell him my predicament, by the time Justin and Lorne returned, Mike and BK were razzing me on the radio - telling everyone to wave as they went by... and sure enough.. everyone one did.. including a few co-workers leaving the media centre just after 5 o'clock. My rescuers commented that i sure knew a lot of people but it was really dolly encouraging everyone to wave and explained what just occurred on the radio. within mintues justin and lorne had me out and were on their way, and i don't know if they were even chat listeners, but it was definitely the topic for the rest of the day on the air. so thanks so much to Justin and Lorne of Black Jack Swabbing and International respectively (i think). i hope you believe in paying if forward, for for that night i helped the diabetes association in Power Point distress with less than 24 hours away from their presentation..what goes around, comes around, and i thank my two knights in shining armour for their kindness
